Well Chicago’s origin story is our Founder’s ode to figures who shaped her childhood years.
Tetyana grew up during the collapse of the Soviet Union, when millions of families were trying to adjust to sweeping systemic changes amid scarce resources and constant uncertainty.
But she refers to her childhood as nothing short of magical, all thanks to her teachers, though also busy raising children, worked beyond their job descriptions to create enriching opportunities for their young students.
These amazing teachers organized creative and cultural projects, site visits, music events, and community service, helping children develop confidence, agency, belonging, while providing them with opportunities to become active members in their communities.
Years later, those are the memories that stood out and became the experiences that shaped Tetyana’s belief that communities thrive when people who care unite and invest in their young leaders.
This is Well Chicago’s why.
Our work is about trailblazing new paths, weaving creativity and connection into how children grow and thrive. Thriving families, stronger communities, Well Chicago.
